Police arrest 12 Rohingyas in Bandarban

 
BANDARBAN, June 3 (BSS) - Police today arrested 12 Myanmar citizens (Rohingya) in a raid at Meghla area near the district town.

The Rohingyas had been working in the area as labourers, police said.

Police arrested the Rohingyas at around 12 pm when they gathered at Meghla in search for work, Bandarban sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Imtiaz Ahmed said.

They admitted that they are citizens of Myanmar and inhabitants of Burichang district of that country.

The arrested are Mohammad Ali, 22, Syed Aham, 34, M Foyez, 32, Kabir Ahmad, 23, Mohammad Alam, 55, Jahir Uddin, 45, Sharif Uddin, 42, Majibur Rahman, 25, Ziaur Rahman, 25, Abul Quashem, 65, Azizul Haq, 56, and Abdul Quader, 55.

They were produced before a court and then sent to jail.
